So he don´t went diving with you because of the money, no he goes diving with you because he loves diving really much. The greatest thing on Matt is, that he loves the silent diving as i love it. Matt is a great dive buddy and knows absolutely what he is doing on his CCR. I didn´t bring a CCR Buddy, so i had the opportunity (well, i paid him) to dive with Matt. When i had any need, i just had to ask and they helped me with everything. I had taken my breather with me and Matt and his crew have taken totally care about me. I just want to let you know that i had a cracking time with Matt Reed of Evolution Diving on the Island Malapascua. For one thing, it's going to make navigating easier, instead of having to twisting my wrist in front of me to read my Petrel. I had an opportunity to check them out at DEMA 2 months back, just to make sure I could actually read the detail clearly, which I could. I've just treated myself to a Nerd hud for mine, won't arrive until after Christmas, can't wait to put it on my rig and test it out. Being on a JJ, I'm particular interested in how others have rigged their systems, what changes, and why etc. I've been reading through many of the threads and am enjoying learning from the experienced conversations taking place. Currently I only have 20 hours on my rig and unfortunately winter is now knocking on the door, which will put a stop for a couple of months, unless I get a chance to head south. Great instructor who definitely pushes you, which in my book is a good thing. Had my training with Wayne of Dive Seekers, NJ. I've only just started diving a rebreather, JJ being my choice. If it were up to you, which configuration would you prefer? Why?Īnd just to direct the conversation a little more, a military vessel is pretty much out of the question.

The nice thing is deep and deco divers will have a great site regardless of which way we go, it's for the shallower group that we are trying to figure out which is the best way to go. Depending on the overall height of the ship, we may still have to remove the bridge, but not all of the superstructure. The shallow portion of the ships superstructure would be smallish, and potentially not large enough to keep one entertained on a longer dive that the shallow depths allow.

It could also be a cargo ship, which would end up with a good portion of the dive site being cargo holds, but would have quite a bit of explorable areas at the bow and stern.Ĥ) A smaller ship that we can leave the superstructure attached, but the bulk of the ship would be in the 100' + range. It would also require us to remove most of the superstructure, so no bridge, captains quarters, radio room, etc that are all toward the upper levels of a ship. That would provide a lot of ship to explore at relatively shallow depths. Give the size of vessel we are looking for, we will likely get two main ready-to-reef configurations:ģ) For very large ships (ie ~500' LOA or bigger) we will have the primary bulk of the hull come close to our clearance depth. The water depth is 135', and we have a 60' clearance approval from the US Coast Guard, which means we can't have any structure shallower than 60'.

We are looking for a 300' plus ship to sink at OCS block HI-A-424, which is about 60 miles offshore of Galveston, TX toward the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary. This is a partially NRDA (Deepwater Horizion) funded project, and as such we are locked into some of the specs we initially submitted for the project. We are about to publish the Request for Proposals for our ship reef project. I work with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Artificial Reef Program, and I'm looking for some opinions on artificial reef wreck diving.
